Technician I, Manufacturing - CR

Position Overview

Work with Manufacturing Engineers and/or Chemists to support activities related to projects, process improvements, line startups, validations, product testing, and sustaining; provide training when required. Job duties:
  • Work with a variety of process equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Support engineers/chemists in equipment validation and sustaining assists with process validations as needed. Supports new line/ equipment transfers or implementation of new technologies.
  • Support Engineers/Chemist running Design of Experiments (designed with the Engineer/Chemist or Sr Technician) or testing as required.
  • Support Production and Quality Assurance departments in identifying and resolving sustaining issues and performing root cause analysis.
  • Support or provide training for operators if required.
  • Draft and route manufacturing documents (e.g., Work Manufacturing Procedures, Equipment Specifications, Installation/Functional Qualification, Defined Tooling, Tool Drawings, etc.) through the Quality System.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Support chemistry-related production activities, including preparing chemical sub-assemblies, performing routine chemical tests, and operating applicable analytical equipment in accordance with safety and quality standards.
  • Assist in the design, validation, and improvement of equipment, fixtures and automation solutions.
  • Generate reports as required.
  • Comply with applicable Laws and Regulations, adhere to Quality Management System processes and requirements as well as demonstrate Ethics and Integrity in all matters and at all levels throughout the organization.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Alajuela, Costa Rica

    1. Technical degree in a related engineering field (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, etc.) OR actively enrolled in an Engineering or Science career—Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Industrial, Chemical, or a closely related discipline—with at least 20% program completion
    1. Good written and oral communication skills in Spanish and English
    1. English level: minimum A2
    Desired Qualifications
    1. Computer skills, including MS Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, Minitab
    1. AutoCad or SolidWorks
    1. Knowledge of good laboratory practices
    1. Electric/electronic and pneumatics knowledge, automation systems
    1. Knowledge of statistics
    1. Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices
    1. Able to work under pressure and with different types of people and personalities
    1. Minimum one (1) year of experience as a technician in the medical device industry desired


    Physical
    • Extended periods of laboratory equipment use.
    • Extended periods of standing or sitting.
    • Light Lifting, up to 25 lbs.
    • May be required within the position to be in an environment that can include radiation exposure (such as in Cathlabs).
