Sr Engineer, Environmental Health & Safety - CR
Position Overview
Use engineering/technical skills and knowledge of engineering/scientific concepts, procedures, standards, and industry awareness to create and maintain multi-systems and programs, in order to identify and resolve EHS issues. In charge of maintaining, implementing, and completing projects and activities leading to improved EHS methods and processes to impact safety within the facility. Responsible for people managing (junior positions). Job duties:
- Ensure compliance with national regulations related with Occupational Health and Safety.
- Complete internal and external EHS Compliance reports and data analysis.
- Lead the certification and recertification process YOY of ISO 45001, ISO 50001, and ISO 14001.
- Lead and support investigations of EHS incidents.
- Lead and execute plant EHS self-assessments and/or compliance assurance audits.
- Lead EHS regulatory inspections with outside agencies including, but not limited to, NFPA, INS, and Ministry of Health.
- Lead, create, implement, and improve Plant EHS program such as, but not limited to, Fall Protection, Machine Guarding, Process Hazard Management, Contractor Safety, Confined Space, Radiation Safety, Chemical Safety, and Emergencies.
- Lead site Emergency Response Team and system for the buildings on site.
- Lead the efforts to achieve INS Homologation award YOY.
- Ensure fully compliance with actions and findings closure on time, incident investigations completed, EHS training matrix updated.
- Support Building EHS Engineers with day-to-day operations activities and improvement opportunities related with Facilities activities, Warehouse safety, Job Hazard Analysis, CoHE, Machine Guarding, Incident investigation, Ergonomics, Cuts Safety, Emergency equipment maintenance, others.
- Define, implement, and improve safety operations indicators (first aid, recordable, days away), including proactive indicators.
- Comply with applicable Laws and Regulations, adhere to Quality Management System processes and requirements as well as demonstrate Ethics and Integrity in all matters and at all levels throughout the organization.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university.
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience in Environmental, Health and Safety.
- Minimum five (5) years of manufacturing and/or plant experience.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work closely with Top Management, Supervisors and Production employees.
- Advanced knowledge of: ISO 45001/ ISO 50001 and ISO 14001, International and local EH&S regulations (including OSHA), safety procedures, emergency protocols, business continuity, root cause analysis and systems implementation.
- Able to effectively influence and communicate at all levels, in both Spanish and English.
- Ability to self-direct and lead an operations team.
