Lead Technician Manufacturing
Position Overview
Responsible for leading maintenance technicians in daily tasks and providing training for technicians. Performs all maintenance functions of production equipment in the assigned area. Work includes routine inspection and repair or replacement of defective or faulty parts on machines and related equipment. All work to be performed in such a matter to ensure good workmanship with minimal delay. This position is expected to take a proactive role in supporting the manufacturing team, providing internal customer support, and building a high level of trust with internal customers and QA/Mfg personnel. In addition, this position is expected to identify and execute tasks that enhance the ability of the team to provide an added value line maintenance service for the site and provide guidance and direction on maintenance technical issues, as well as assist in providing innovative, creative, effective, and long-term solutions related to manufacturing line maintenance and repair. Job duties:
- Responsible for training technicians.
- Assist with developing/maintaining interdepartmental communication and relationships.
- Plays an instrumental role in communicating with internal and external clients.
- Maintains a safe culture by promoting MicroVention’s safety practices and LOTO procedures.
- Maintains all assigned equipment and assures equipment is up to date with the PMs.
- Performs equipment preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair duties.
- Coordinates maintenance/repair of equipment between cross-functional operation and 3rd parties until units are returned to operative status.
- Ensures timely turn-around time on all equipment maintenance and repair services.
- Generates, coordinates and maintains appropriate work-related records, such as maintenance work orders, IQ/OQ reports, and PM schedules & checklists.
- Writes and updates procedures to ensure efficiency, standardization, and accuracy of repair/maintenance services.
- Works with production daily to coordinate appropriate course of action to maximize uptime and quality performance of respective area.
- Uses tools and equipment to repair or modify parts and equipment.
- Supports engineers in equipment or process validation studies.
- Able to operate machinery for purposes of training, troubleshooting, or as needed to support production activities.
- Identifies trends, cycles, and intervals with ability to initiate and complete documented troubleshooting studies on equipment to outline opportunities for improvements.
- Understands, troubleshoots (RCA), and repairs equipment, such as:
- Electrical Control Technology, AC and DC Motors & Drives, Breakers and fuses, Industrial Wiring, Transformers, Power Supplies, PLC’s, Sensors, Process Control Technology, Mechanical systems.
- Must have the ability to read and understand electrical/ /pneumatic schematics and mechanical assembly drawings:
- Pneumatic Systems, Pressure and Flow Controls, Cylinders, valves, pumps, etc. Drive Systems, Motion control systems.
- Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Understands KPIs for maintenance and generates solutions for problems detected from that information.
- Controls assigned personnel assistance and work with payroll systems.
- Supports equipment transfers as required.
- Technical school education or equivalent education/experience.
- Minimum two (2) years of related experience.
- Strong background in machine maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with reading and preparing technical documentation.
- Experience with quality management systems.
- Ability to analyze, investigate and help solve technical issues involving manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to work independently and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Good interpersonal, listening and verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
- Excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to promote effective working relationships at all levels and create a positive work environment.
- Ability to collaborate with others in a team-based environment and maintain a high degree of personal credibility.
- Flexible to work nights and weekends if necessary.
- Proficient in using personal computers and a working knowledge of software such as MS Excel and Word.
- Good understanding of GMP’s with experience in a medical device manufacturing environment.
- English level >50%
- Knowledge and experience working with machine control systems, including PLC’s (Panasonic, AB, Mitsubishi, etc.), servo controls, and Variable Speed Drives, including vision systems.
- Lean manufacturing practices.
- An engineer career in a related field.
